The exhibition space La Capella hosted last night, September 19, the ceremony to present Alán Carrasco, the Art Nou 2019 award, for his exhibition A Soviet militiaman eats at McDonald’s hamburger in Moscow, which until September 28 can be visited at ADN Galeria.
The project, consisting of a series of drawings, videos and sculpture, recounts one of the first conquests of the capitalist system against a decadent Soviet state. From an anecdotal episode and with a seemingly aseptic tone, the artist presents the results of his particular historiographical research and constructs a discourse that questions the concepts of authenticity and truth.
In this edition, the Jury of the Art Nou prize was formed by Anna Dot (artist and winner of the last edition) and the curators Hiuwai Chu and Alexandra Laudo.
